Who We Are
We have lived on our 400-acre family farm in southern Indiana for 36 years and raised our four children here. Our daughter is a soon-to-be veterinarian and wolfhound owner; she is a great help to us in caring for our animals. We think our family farm is the perfect place to raise children and wolfhounds.
We have never shown, as we have never been interested in that part of the dog world. Our dogs are healthy, and when introducing new blood, we like as much diversity as possible. We believe this promotes a longer life and an all-around healthier animal. Most of our dogs live to be around 11 years plus or minus a few months. Our daughter has one of our females, Dixie, who is past 11 years old. They canoe and camp frequently, taking two dogs out on the boat. On occasion, they all end up in the water! Needless to say, Dixie is still a good swimmer! |
Our History
We first fell in love with Irish Wolfhounds when we brought Freda home in 1994. As a pup, she developed a habit of lying under our kitchen table. As she grew, she didn’t realize she no longer fit. When Freda stood up, she would raise and bounce our table! Watch out for the coffee! We decided we never wanted to be without a wolfhound in our lives and have been raising these gentle giants ever since. They spend time with us, whether building fence, walking through the woods and fields or swimming in the creek. They sometimes help when our cows get in the yard. They help remind the cows they belong back in the pasture! Our dogs tend to follow us when we are outside or go to town; they want to stay close by. They also enjoy lounging on the patio and love visitors!
We currently have 9 adult wolfhounds ranging in ages from 2 years to 11+ years of age. Wolfhounds are majestic animals with a very gentle nature. It’s what we love about them. See for yourself by clicking on the Our Dogs page!
